SEC coaches praise Mississippi State first-year head coach Jeff Lebby during 2024 SEC Media Days
The Southeastern Conference is loaded with football talent both on the field and on the sideline. From the players making the plays to the coaches dialing up the X’s and the O’s.
The SEC has it all.
One of the coaches taking the field this year will be first-year head coach Jeff Lebby for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Before becoming a head coach in the SEC, Lebby spent time with both Josh Heupel and Brent Venables in his coaching career. While at SEC Media Days, both coaches took time to talk about Lebby and what he can bring to Starkville and to Davis Wade stadium.
“Really confident that he will do a great job,” said Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables. “He is aggressive, he is innovative, he relates to people, he brings out the best in people, he has the ability to instill confidence in the simplest ways. I know the passion in Starkville, Mississippi is very real and they will support him in all the right ways to be successful.”
“Yeah, I am excited for Jeff and his family,” said Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. “He is highly competitive. I have known Jeff for a long time. He was a student assistant while I was a GA at Oklahoma after he had an injury and couldn’t play anymore. I’ve known him a long time, he is smart, he is competitive, he has been inside this league and he will do a nice job down there.”
