The Search for Jason Johnson

Authorities have confirmed the body found in Hancock County is in fact Jason Johnson. Earlier today, News 25 caught up with friends and family members who set up a search party in the area of where he was last seen.
Mounted on several horses and four wheelers Monday morning, family and friends of 33-year-old Jason Johnson were holding out hope that he would be found safe and sound after he went missing two weeks ago. Mike Johnson, Jason’s brother, said, “It’s like he fell off the face of the Earth. No one’s heard from him. No one’s seen him. He has nothing but the clothes on his back and that’s it. That’s all we know.”
On the morning of August 24th, Jason Johnson walked out of a home off Highway 63 in the Kiln, where his sister-in-law and her husband live, with only the clothes on his back. Sergeant Carl Contranchis with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said, “He had spent two previous nights over there after becoming involved in a disturbance with his wife, but like I said, there’s no indication at this time to suspect anything other than him leaving.”
Jason’s brother, Dwayne Johnson, said, “They said when he left the only thing he left with was the shirt on his back and that’s not my brother. My brother, he’s all about his clothes, he wouldn’t have went a day or two days at the most without coming back and getting his clothes.”
By mid-Monday morning, the search had turned up only a suitcase and a t-shirt. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department brought a K-9 on scene to assist in the search for Jason. His family tells News 25 just up and leaving without telling anyone is out of character. “For him to be gone a week and a half and not call his mom or come back and got his clothes, it just seems odd,” said Dwayne.
“For Jason to be missing this long, it isn’t right. He’s a very clean guy, clean cut. Always maintained himself and for him to have no materials to keep himself clean, that’s not him,” said Mike.
