She’s a woman of diverse talent and her vocal ability has earned her the title of WXXV’s 2015 Search for a Superstar winner.
And the crowd loved Lakelia Underwood too.
The Moss Point Corrections Officer took home the title, trophy, and a thousand dollar prize at this year’s contest.
She’ll also take a trip to LA later this month to watch the season finale of “American Idol”.
After the initial cut from 20 contestants to just five, she wowed the judges and the crowd with her version of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston.
“I just want to keep singing and entertaining people. God’s given me that gift to sing so that’s what I want to do, whether it’s on a platform in theater or just singing at church or whatever I can, I would love to go to the studio to record some stuff so yeah, that’s cool."
