Search and Rescue in Jackson County

An all-out search involving more than four agencies from the Coast Guard to DMR is working around the clock looking for a missing plane and it’s passengers.
Authorities confirmed pieces of a plane have washed up on Belle Fountaine Beach in Ocean Springs. This is just one area where rescue workers have been searching.
By land, sea and air, an all-out search launched just before midnight continued throughout the day Tuesday after a small single engine plane reportedly carrying three people was reported missing Monday afternoon.
The search was concentrated in Jackson County, where helicopter dispatcher Staci Milosavljevich recalls the dangerous conditions. “It was terrible. It was raining, very strong winds blowing where you couldn’t even see into the bayou.”
The last known signal came from the Bayou Casotte area in Pascagoula. Search and rescuers from multiple agencies combed the area, as well as Belle Fountaine Beach in Jackson County, where part of the plane’s tail wing was found.
Relatives of passenger and Saucier resident Dexter Brewer consoled each other in Gulfport at Million Air, a small airport and the site of the plane’s departure Monday.“At that point, the winds were exceeding 35, 36, 37 knots with gusts up to 42,” said Milosavljevich.
There are multiple agencies, land and sea, that are involved in the search, including Department of Marine Resources, Marine Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Mike Ezell said, “It goes all out into the Gulf, but of course, with us finding some debris here we’ll come in a little closer. But through finding out the flight path, we’ll be able to center the search closer to that area.”
As the search continues, family and friends lean on each other and their faith, praying for the safe return of the man they call father, husband, and friend.
