Seabees reunite with family after six-month deployment
Seabees from the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 returned early this morning after months of deployment in Spain.
“I’m just so excited. He has missed my whole entire pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant three days after he left for deployment. So, it’s the first time he’s going to see me full belly bump and everything. So, we’re so, so excited.”
At the Seabee Base in Gulfport, Sailors were welcomed home with open arms after months of service kept them from their families. “It’s really exciting. And I can’t wait for him to come back because we’ve been waiting. (What’s the first thing you’re ready to do with dad, Hudson?) Fishing. (FISHING?) Yeah, we’re going to hug him so much when we see him.”
“Our deployment was six months. Longest six months of my life, even when he’s here we are long distance because I live all the way in Texas. But he was in Rota, Spain. So, this is his first deployment to, so it was all very new to us.”
“It’s so exhausting doing everything by yourself, especially now that I’m 31 weeks pregnant. It’s just I’m so tired. I just can’t wait to be pampered and taken care of.”
Today, the base also celebrated the Seabee’s 82nd birthday. They were founded in 1942 during World War II.
