Seabee Day 2017 coming April 8th
Anticipation is building as we get closer to a celebration honoring the Navy in South Mississippi.
Saturday, April 8th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. is Seabee Day and military personnel are already preparing for the big day. The annual event opens the base in Gulfport to the public for free carnival rides, music, and a chicken wing eating contest. Gulf Coast residents get the opportunity to speak with Seabees and learn more about what the base provides to the community.
Today Captain Cheryl Hansen stopped by News 25. “The purpose of Seabee Day is to celebrate the Seabees. Obviously we have lots of military demonstrations and some static display so the people learn about it and can understand what it is the Seabees do when they’re deployed around the world.”
Non DOD ID card holders must park at Milner Stadium in Gulfport near Memorial Hospital. Free shuttles are provided and starting running at 8:45 a.m.
