Seabee Base investigating fuel discharge

The Naval Construction Battalion Center is releasing new details about a fuel spill that happened on base this past weekend.

On March 9th, the base’s microgrid system experienced an unexpected discharge of about 1,800 gallons of diesel fuel.

Crews trained in fuel cleanup quickly responded to contain and clean up the spill.

Base officials say no fuel left the installation’s boundaries and there is no anticipated risk to base residents when it comes to potable water or environmental factors.

The exact cause of the fuel discharge is still being investigated.
