Sea turtles released back into the ocean on Biloxi Beach

A large crowd gathered at Biloxi Beach to witness the release of three rehabilitated sea turtles. The crowd was amazed to see such creatures up close.

The turtles—Jack-Jack, Moby, and Toast Malone—quickly became crowd favorites. Toast Malone, however, is no stranger to being released by the Institute of Marine Mammal Studies, having returned to shore four times in just one year. Staff members are hopeful that this time, he will finally stay in his rightful home.

The Institute of Marine Mammal Studies invites the public to these releases to educate them on the importance of marine life and how to coexist with these creatures. When turtles are found stranded or entangled in fishing lines, it’s important to take the right course of action as soon as possible. The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) stranding hotline is 888-767-3657. You can call this number to report a sick, injured, or stranded marine mammal or sea turtle.

One of the many perks of living on the Gulf Coast is the proximity to diverse wildlife, offering experiences unlike anywhere else.
