Sea and Sail Adventure Camp at Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum

Grab your sails and head out to the sea! The Sea and Sail Adventure Programs at the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum are happening all summer long.

The camps are designed to bring about a greater awareness of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s original history and maritime heritage through a variety of fun and educational activities.

Today, the campers learned how to throw cast nets and fished all on their own at the Schooner Pier Complex. Outreach Program Coordinator Corey Christy said, “I think the big benefit is keeping the connection with the Coast and our history through the younger generations. This is a great way to keep that going. We get almost 500 kids a summer. So, hopefully they’re coming and remembering what they are learning and sharing it with the community.”

There is still time to sign up for sessions later this summer. You can sign up on their website at maritimemuseum.org.
