Schools prepare for winter weather
With the cold weather making its way to the Gulf Coast, area schools want parents to be fully informed about the possibility of delays or cancellations of class.
The Harrison County School District posted a statement on its Facebook page, saying in part: “We will do our best to keep you updated on all Harrison County School District social media sites, school messenger callouts, and through local TV, radio, and newspaper outlets. If we must close schools, the makeup day will be Wednesday, March 6th.”
Jackson County will give updates through the Jackson County School App whenever the school district makes a decision about the weather, along with an all-call to parents.
Pass Christian Schools will remain open tomorrow. School officials are closely monitoring the weather for changes in the forecast.
The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 29, due to anticipated winter weather conditions, beginning late Monday evening and continuing throughout Tuesday. Operations on the Gulf Coast will proceed as regularly scheduled.
After meeting with the Hancock County EMA officials this afternoon regarding the inclement weather forecast, the decision has been made for Hancock County School District schools to remain open tomorrow, Tuesday, January 29th.
