School District Leaders Meet with Parents About Possible Football Merger

A meeting was held with students and parents about a possible merger between two middle school football programs.

Parents of students at Bayou View and Gulfport Central Middle School met with district leaders on Wednesday at Gulfport High School to discuss the possibility of a merger between the school’s football programs.

The meeting was set up to inform parents on the details of the possible merger, as well as allow them to voice any opinions or questions they have.

“We want parental involvement in everything we do. We don’t wanna just layout exactly what we’re gonna do with no opinions from the public, so this is an opportunity for people to come listen while we’re talking about this, what the plan is, and voice any kind of opinions.”

School district leaders believe that combining the two football programs will lead to better player development and overall success. Additionally, no jobs will be lost as coaching staffs from both schools will combine.

If you’re a parent and you have any questions or opinions on the possible merger, you can still reach out to the Gulfport Athletic Department to make sure your voice is heard.
