Saracennia Park in Moss Point
The City of Moss Point is partnering with the Land Trust of the Mississippi Coastal Plain to beautify the city.
They’re currently finishing plans for a new park. Saracennia Park would be located directly off of Old Saracennia Road, which is near the Moss Point Fire Department.
Plans for the park show numerous trails for the public, including one that will be handicap accessible.
The looping trails will help nature lovers of all kinds enjoy the natural vegetation in the area.
“A person who just wants to go and sit and view nature, it will be available to them. The open classroom will be able to have science right at their finger tip. Instead of just learning it through books, they’re experiencing it. They’re actually seeing the dragonfly flitting from plant to plant or the butterflies or the birds”, said Judy Steckler, Executive Director of the Land Trust Mississippi Coastal Plain.
The city received a grant from the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife to help fund the construction of the park.
