Santa Wears a Badge honoring fallen George County deputy
Every year the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department host a toy drive around the holidays to make sure Christmas is special for everyone but this year it means more.
Santa Wears a Badge is a toy drive started by records inventory clerk Connie Bosarge
“Four of us got together and tried to figure out what to do and we came up with Santa Wears a Badge. We done pretty good that year we had 100 families we were able to help. From then until now we have about 500 families we have helped.”
This is Connie’s 11th year running the drive but this year she’s missing a familiar face.
“This year we are actually dedicating the Santa Wears a Badge to the fallen Officer Jeremy Malone from George County. He was killed January 4th, 2024. He was one of the founders of this program. He’s been with me through thick and thin through all eleven years.”
Though the toys will be delivered with a heavy heart this year Connie wants to make it the best drive yet
“He was a good friend, he was a good father, he was a good husband, and he was the best officer I knew. So I wanted to take this year and dedicate it to him and his memory. He’s still with me and he will always be with me.”
Donating to Santa Wears A Badge not only supports a Jackson County child but also the life and legacy of Jeremy Malone so be sure to donate.
