The Sands development update in Ocean Springs

The Ocean Springs Planning Commission decision to deny the sketch plat approval for The Sands Front Beach town homes will be appealed.

The Sands is a beach front town home development of 57 town homes. Last week, the Planning Commission made recommendations to deny approval of the sketch plat.

Now, developers will have more time to come up with a plan that will support zoning regulations.

President of Brumfield Properties and member of The Sands, LLC William Brumfield tells News 25 representatives from The Sands were ready to make their case tonight to the city council. However, they were taken off the agenda due to the appealing process. “Well, we hope we are approved in three weeks. We hope to get sketch plat approval in three weeks and then we would go on to preliminary plat and final plat. It’s just a process and hopefully step one will be three weeks from now.”

Although Brumfield hopes to be approved in three weeks, Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson says the board of aldermen will more than likely be taking action at the next meeting.
