Sand Removal On Highway 90
A total of about two dozen workers will be out for the next week cleaning up the medians and removing sand from the roadway. Parks and recreation crew members are cleaning up between Oak Street and Veterans Avenue between 6am and noon. In the meantime the public work department will have two separate crews working between 6am and 4pm. One using heavy equipment to remove sand from the sides of Highway 90. The other trimming grass from sidewalks on the north side of the highway. Here is what drivers need to know during this week long clean up. We’re asking them to use extra caution on Highway 90 this week; we’ve got a lot of workers out there so please when you’re approaching a construction zone please give them a break as they like to say at MDOT. There will be stretches on Highway 90 where cones will direct traffic to stay in one lane so workers have extra space to clean up the roadway. City officials ask you reduce your speed when passing these zones.
