Sand bags locations opening in South Mississippi

Sandbag locations are opening across South Mississippi in anticipation of this weekend’s weather.

The City of Gulfport is offering self-serve sandbags to residents with distributions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the weekend, as needed, and as weather conditions allow. Each household can get up to ten sandbags, while supplies last.

Sand and shovels will be provided, but residents should be prepared to load their own bags. Assistance will be available for elderly residents who need help.

Sandbags are available at three locations:

  • Intersection of Hewes Avenue and Glover Street
  • Orange Grove Community Center
  • Gulfport Fire Station Two

In Harrison County, self-service sandbag locations are open for residents who need to prepare. Bags are available at each location. Please bring your own shovel to fill the bags.
