Sand bag locations open across the Coast

Sandbag locations are opening across the Gulf Coast in preparation for Tropical Storm Francine.

One of the self-service sandbag sites in Harrison County is located off County Farm Road right next to Lyman Work Center. This is one of eight self-service sandbag sites located in Harrison County that opened at 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Besides Harrison County, Biloxi, Pascagoula, Vancleave, Gautier, Moss Point, Ocean Springs, Pass Christian, Hancock County, Jackson County, and Pearl River County will all be providing various sandbag locations.

This all is in reaction to Tropical Storm Francine which is expected to make landfall in the coming days with flooding as the main concern on the minds of South Mississippians.

“It’s a resource that Harrison County gives to the residents of Harrison County for low-lying areas or places that are prone to flood. It’s a useful tool for residents to try to hold back some water from either getting in their home or land.”
