Salvation Army’s Christmas in July

The Salvation Army is breaking out the red kettles a few months early as part of its Christmas in July fundraising campaign.

Today the red kettles will be out at a number of locations across South Mississippi. The Christmas in July campaign’s motto is ‘need knows no season’ and aims to remind people the Salvation Army is in need of donations at all time and not just during the holiday season.

All the proceeds are going directly to help families and individuals in need throughout the entire year.  Salvation Army Public Relations Director Morgan Shiyou said, “Currently we are in need of food and canned food items and also we are trying to raise some money for back to school supplies or you can drop off some back to school supplies. We have had a lot of people asking for that so that is a need that is out there.”

Bell ringers will be out at Edgewater Mall until 6 this evening.
