Salvation Army wrapping up their 2021 Angel Tree program

Our local Salvation Army is wrapping up their Angel Tree program in Jackson County with their gift distribution.

This year, they saw an increase in Angel Tree registration, but were able to provide gifts to all the families that registered.

Volunteers directed traffic and delivered sacks of goodies to each vehicle driving through.

Every year you’ll see some familiar volunteers as many enjoy being able to assist Santa. For Lt. Carla Lawson, it’s about returning the kindness. When she was a child, she was an Angel and received Christmas gifts from the Salvation Army’s program. “It was really helpful to me because I always had a great Christmas. I always woke up Christmas morning to the wonderful things that Santa left. Now, it’s just so important that we can make that miracle happen for other children.”

Tomorrow, the Salvation Army will be distributing gifts to families that registered in George County.
