Salvation Army receives grant from CenterPoint Energy
CenterPoint Energy Foundation awarded $50,000 to the Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Center of Hope.
The grant will help pay rent and housing deposits for people who qualify.
The Center of Hope provides eight apartments to house homeless families for 30 days and upwards of 60 days. These apartments are in place to help families get back on their feet after falling on hard times.
After people have completed the Pathway of Hope program, the Salvation Army will use the funds to help with rent and deposits. Area Commander Major Jerry Friday said, “We are humbled, but also honored that we are able to partner with CenterPoint Energy as well as many other community partners, not only businesses, but other local agencies that have the same mission and the same goal in mind that we do and that’s to help families get into homes and to be able to stay in their homes.”
For more than 100 years, the Salvation Army has provided hope and healing in our community and to those in need.
