Salvation Army preparing for the holiday season

Salvation Army is hoping to keep this tradition alive of greeting shoppers this holiday season with their Red Kettle Campaign and Angel Tree.

For over 130 years, the Red Kettle and bell have greeted customers during the holiday season and this year will be no different.

The plan is to have at least 20 red kettles across the Coast. Along with the Red Kettle Campaign, the Salvation Army is also taking gifts for the Angel Tree.

You can adopt an angel off of a tree and if all the names are taken you can still donate a gift to a Salvation Army location.

All Angel Tree gifts are due by December 5th.  Marketing Manager Morgan Shiyou said, “The community on the Mississippi Gulf Coast comes together year after year and supports us tremendously. So, I am just reminding you that the need is here this year. It’s greater than ever you know due to inflation and jobs and all that. So, everybody has had a difficult time the past two years, but now is the time to bring hope to those in need.”

The Salvation Army is currently looking for volunteers to ring the bell. For those who would like to donate to the Red Kettle Campaign go online to mscoastkettle.org.
