Salvation Army MS Gulf Coast preparing for possible SNAP delays

Recognizing National Salvation Army Day

The Salvation Army Mississippi Gulf Coast is preparing for an increase in food requests and other needs.

This follows the ongoing issue with delayed or not issued SNAP benefits.

The Salvation Army says their social service offices are preparing for an increase in food requests and other urgent needs as families face the possibility of not receiving their November SNAP benefits.

This situation creates unexpected pressure for families already stretching to make ends meet as well as adds demand to local food assistance programs ahead of the holidays.

In response, the Salvation Army is temporarily relaxing regulations for assistance, coordinating with local partners, and urging the community to donate if they can.

In tandem with the relaxed regulations, Gulfport Kiwanis Club is teaming up with Rouses to hold a food drive on Saturday, November 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
