Salvation Army helping those in need through Angel Tree program
This morning, families arrived at the Salvation Army Bridge Center in Biloxi to receive their Angel Tree gifts.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year.
Families must apply for the help and their wish lists are shared with donors in the community.
Along with gifts like bikes, clothes, and toys, each family also receives a bag filled with food.
Volunteers from various businesses and organizations in the community helped pass out the items today. Recipient Jemila Q. said, “I am so grateful to receive a gift today. It is a blessing. Have a merry Christmas. My kids are going to be so excited.”
Salvation Army Area Commander Major Jerry Friday said, “Every child that asked for a bicycle is getting a bicycle. People have just been generous and kind, doing toy drives, adopting angels, putting money in the red kettle.”
Angel Tree donations helped cover over 1,000 children across the Coast.
