Saints sign wide receiver Brandon Marshall

Even with the Saints riding an eight-game winning streak for the second consecutive season, they aren’t backing down in their hunt for another big play threat on the outside.

Today, New Orleans signed veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall to a one-year deal in the wake of losing the recently acquired Dez Bryant on Friday to a torn Achilles.

The Black and Gold are third in the league in point differential, but they remain thin at the wideout position, having also lost Ted Ginn Jr. and Cameron Meredith to injured reserve in the last month.

Michael Thomas is the only receiver on the roster with more than 12 receptions and he’s tied for the league lead with 78.

At 6’5” Marshall is expected to do the bulk of his work in the red zone, three years removed from his last 1,000 yard season.
