Saints open training camp Thursday
The New Orleans Saints have a lot to figure out when their training camp opens tomorrow. They enter 2017 as one of the biggest mysteries and perhaps the most banged up team in the NFL.
After spending the last three years at the Greenbriar in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the Black and Gold are back in Metairie for training camp. Players reported to the practice facility earlier today in preparation for the first session tomorrow at 8:50 a.m.
Yesterday, Dannell Ellerbe was placed on injured reserve, joining Nick Fairley, Terron Armstead and Max Unger.
Despite the setbacks, Head Coach Sean Payton is preaching for a fast start in 2017. “Part of that I think has to do with a younger team. I think that, look history has told us that there are times where teams start off maybe with some adversity but begin to rally back and play well. I think it’s going to be important for this team to handle the first four weeks of the season, and hopefully try to start faster than we have.”
The Saints got off to an 0-3 start in 2016 before finishing the last 13 games with a record of 7-6.
