Saints gaming planning for Baltimore’s vaunted pass rush
In week five, Drew Brees passed both Peyton Manning and Brett Favre on his climb to the top of the NFL’s all-time passing list. Now coming off a week six bye, Brees is trying to join that same duo as just the third quarterback to beat all 32 teams.
Last but not least are the Baltimore Ravens, who pose a massive threat to what New Orleans likes to do on offense. It’s an intriguing match-up of strength versus strength featuring Baltimore’s league-leading defense with 26 sacks and a Saints offense that’s tied for second in the NFL with just eight sacks allowed.
Keep in mind, the Ravens just broke their single game franchise record with 11 sacks last week, setting the stage for an epic battle in the trenches. Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan said, “For us to come back this week and play a defense like the Ravens, this is something that we look forward to, to match, to outperform, to compete every Sunday. So it’s something that we have on our minds.”
Saints offensive tackle Terron Armstead said, “I mean they’ve got some guys individually that can get after the quarterback for sure. And schematically, they give you a bunch of disguise and exotic looks that kind of confuses the front five, the quarterback and you slide to this guy, this guy comes free. So we’re going to have to be great with communication, great with our game plan to be able to handle that.”
The Saints and Ravens kick off at 3:05 on Sunday on WXXV Fox.
