Saints Day safety clinic

The third annual Saints Day kicked off this morning with nearly two dozen Saints Hall of Famers and three current Saints players participating in a series of events.

This afternoon, the News Orleans Saints hosted a football safety clinic for parents at MGM Park. For the first time, Saints Day also included a New Orleans Pelicans interactive area for basketball fans.

The Saints also gave away one hundred tickets to tonight’s Shuckers-Mississippi Braves game.

News 25 spoke to the Saints and Pelicans Director of Youth Programs Jason Trosclair who tells us about the importance of this event. “We want to make sure our parents and especially our coaches, but the parents have the resources and information to fit their own child with a helmet or shoulder pads, that they’re aware of concussions, signs of concussions and the protocol to return their child to play. Also, just heat and hydration, I mean it is humid right now and everybody has to deal with that in the South, just giving them all the information they need to ensure the safety of their young kids.”

Trosclair says it is important for parents to be equipped with knowledge to ensure the safety of the game of football continues despite it recently being under attack.
