Saints can clinch NFCS with win over Tampa Bay
After the New Orleans Saints lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first week of the regular season, the two teams went in very different directions, but will Sunday’s rematch provide a very different outcome.
Well, a recent ten game winning streak would certainly suggest as much especially considering the Black and Gold haven’t given up more than 40 points in a game since that week one defeat. On the flip side, the Bucs proceeded to drop seven out of eight following a 2-0 start, but have recently hit their stride with two straight wins.
Exactly three months later, revenge isn’t really the focus for the Saints with something much more important on the line in week 14. Saints quarterback Drew Brees said, “Bottom line is we control our destiny right now. We win this game, we win the division. And that’s the first step, first goal that we set for ourselves this season was to accomplish that and then we’ll worry about the next goal. But that’s significant. Like you said, this division has been one where it’s highly competitive. And each and every year it seems like there’s a different team or sets of teams that are all fighting for it at the end and then one of us gets it. But yeah, that’d be a big first step is win the division with a win this week.”
Kickoff between the Saints and Bucs is set for noon on Sunday from Tampa.
