Safe rooms opening in South Mississippi ahead of severe weather
SOUTH MISS, (WXXV)- Safe rooms are opening across South Mississippi due to the threat for severe weather and flooding over the next few days.
The Poplarville, Carrier, and Picayune saferooms will open at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Pearl River County.
As usual, pets are now allowed in these shelters and you’re asked to bring food, water, and any personal items you may need.
In Hancock County, the Kiln Safe Room opens at 6 p.m. Wednesday and will close when the severe weather threat has passed. Citizens utilizing the safe room must bring all necessary items during their stay as no staffing, food, or sleep accommodations will be available.
