Sacred Heath Catholic Church celebrates 100 years
Its flock has remained intact now for 100 years, Sacred Heart Catholic Church is celebrating its centennial with its yearly bazaar this weekend in D’Iberville.
Christmas on Lemoyne starts with the dedication of a memorial garden Friday night at 6 with a fireworks show to follow.
The bazaar opens at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with games, a $10,000 raffle, food, music, and a lot more.
The grownups can enjoy drinks with homemade gumbo, po-boys, and even Father Dominic’s heavenly wings.
Sister Kim’s silent auction will also be a big draw as parishioners put together a variety of gifts.
Rumor has it, Santa will even make an appearance Sunday afternoon. Sacred Heart Parishioner Teddy Harder said, “I think we’ve got availability for anything they might like to enjoy — a lot of atmospheres. One reason this bazaar has been so successful is because not only has it been our parish, but it’s been other people from other areas on the Gulf Coast has enjoyed it also. So, they find out, they come back.”
The proceeds will fund programs like the parish’s youth ministries and the Knights of Columbus.
