S3, employees come to agreement to end strike at Stennis

Members of the Machinists Union 2249 ended their five-day strike Friday afternoon at Stennis Space Center.

The union members who are employees of Syncom Space Services, who went out on strike at 5 a.m. Monday, June 17, returned to work at 4:30 p.m. Friday after the union voted to end the strike.

Jonathan Strickland, a line worker who acted as a spokesperson for the union, said the resolution wasn’t ‘fantastic,’ but the 210-member union voted to end the strike.

The union agreed to a one-year contract with S3, which will end about this time next year.

In the meantime, Strickland said, the union will take some time to look at what did and didn’t happen before then return to the negotiating table for the next contract.

S3 is a contractor for NASA located at Stennis Space Center in Hancock County.
