Ryan’s First Thursday Forecast

We got off to quite an interesting start this morning, and the first Thursday forecast holds more rain ahead for the Gulf Coast. The rain may be done for this evening, but after only a day or two of reprieve, we see the showers and thunderstorms return Sunday afternoon, and stick around for a few days. Flooding continues to be the main issue right now, as parts of Harrison Co. recieved over 10 inches of rain in just 5 hours. Residents near rivers should continue to be wary as we head into tomorrow, to watch the banks and make sure further action is not needed to protect their property. Many residents had to be rescued from their homes or cars this morning, remember, it’s easy to underestimate how fast/deep water is, and it only takes a few feet moving slowly to sweep away a car. Please, I know the rhyming phrases are cheesy sometimes, but “Turn around, don’t drown.” I know you have places to be but it generally isn’t worth your life or your car. We will see pleasant conditions tomorrow (Friday) and most of Saturday before the rain returns, so it’s a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the weekend.
