Roy Howard Community Journalism Center celebrates one year anniversary

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WXXV)- A community journalism center serving Southern Mississippi and powered by USM students celebrated its one-year anniversary Thursday.

The Roy Howard Community Journalism Center has been celebrating the milestone with a week full of events on the USM campus.

Media professionals from across the state connected with the center’s members in a media lounge session including WXXV’s Brian Winters and Megan Fayard.

Thanks to a grant from the Scripps-Howard Foundation, the center allows students to gain real world storytelling experience in local communities under the supervision of veteran media professionals.
