Rotary Walk 2023 raises money for Casting Nets program

The Rotary Club of Gulfport partnered with St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church to help raise money for the Casting Nets program.

Today, people were able to take a stroll around Jones Park at the 2023 Rotary Walk. Registration was $35 and walkers received a t-shirt and donuts.

Casting Nets is a ministry of St. Peters that serves students at Central Elementary School. Children are able to visit the beach and learn about the arts and fishing.

Casting Nets is free to these students, so these funds will help with supply costs. Rev. Patrick Sanders said, “They also get all the equipment that goes with doing the art that we do, right, so sketchpads and colored pencils and paint and brushes and canvases and all that kind of stuff. We also compensate our artists that come as much as we possibly can. And we also have to buy equipment to do the fishing and the throwing of the nets and all of that stuff.”
