Rotary Club of Pass Christian hosting second annual Paddle the Bay
If you’re looking for a family fun event all in the name of a good cause, head to Pass Christian this weekend.
The second annual Paddle the Bay kicks off Saturday at Henderson Point Park at the base of the Bay Bridge and this year they’ve added a 5K to the event.
Paddle the Bay is hosted by the Rotary Club of Pass Christian and is expected to be their biggest fundraising event of the year.
Instead of admission fees, the Rotary Club encourages donations. Last year’s event brought in $25,000. This year the goal is $30,000 that will go toward a number of great causes. Ollie Bailey with the Rotary Club of Pass Christian said, “This fundraiser we do for the club allows us the opportunity to help a lot in the Pass Christian community. We give a lot to local schools. One of the projects we’ve got coming up is our dictionary project and we give to third graders. We do a lot in our community and our state and we also have international projects that we do as well.”
Paul Ellis with the Rotary Club of Pass Christian said, “It’s been raining so much. It’s time to get out. It’s going to be a great day Saturday. It’s going to be a great family event. You can get on the water. You can run. You can meet some great people.”
The second annual Paddle the Bay runs from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Registration will be available at the event. Food, music, and games will follow the day’s events.
