Rotary Club of Gulfport-Orange Grove gives dictionaries to third graders

The Rotary Club of Gulfport-Orange Grove donated more than 1,000 dictionaries to third graders in the Harrison County School District.

They began distributing the books at Crossroads Elementary and students were excited to receive their dictionaries.

The Dictionary Project is an annual service project implemented by the Rotary Club of Gulfport-Orange Grove that supports the humanitarian need of supporting education.

The dictionaries will help these students in developing their personal skills in creative writing and reading and serve as a valuable resource through elementary and middle school. Rotary Club Secretary Angie Crawford said, “The main focuses of Rotary International is literacy and that’s why this project hits home to us in Orange Grove. We want the kids to have every tool available to make them very successful members of our community.”

The Rotary Club of Gulfport-Orange Grove has maintained this project for over 25 years.
