Rohrbacker pleads not guilty to charges in shooting death of Lt. Michael Boutte

The man accused of killing Hancock County Sheriff Lt. Michael Boutte on February 1st has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

According to our media partner, the Sun Herald, a grand jury had already indicted 31-year-old Joseph Rohrbacker on a charge of capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault, one on a police officer.

A jury trial is now set for August 2022 and if convicted of capital murder, Rohrbacker faces a possible death sentence or life in prison without parole.
