Rodney McGilvary sworn into Ward 4 Biloxi City Council seat

Rodney McGilvary can finally add “councilman” to the front of his name after vying for a spot on the city council for nearly six years.

Councilman McGillivray will now serve Ward 4 following his inauguration.

McGilvary served the city as the assistant chief of police and held the title of the longest-serving officer when he retired in 2016.

During his first speech as councilman, he spoke about how eager he has been to serve the city again since then and expressed his plan to make good on the promises he made to his constituents.

“Their issue, whatever it is, will become my issue,” McGilvary said. “I know how to put out issues, and I know how to solve problems because I did that for forty years at the police department. I humbly thank the citizens of Ward 4 for having faith in me to do exactly what I told them I was going to do. And that’s to be accountable and get some progress done in our ward.”
