Rocky Start To Oyster Season
Oyster season is off to a rocky start after Monday’s opening.
Nearly 100 boats harvested 12 hundred sacs of oysters on the first day of the season.
The oyster fishermen who spoke with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources said they did not reach their daily bag limit.
Typically it is 25 sacks for Dredgers and 15 for Tongers.
Right now only the western part of the sound is open including Pass Christian.
And even though the DMR opened this oyster season earlier than last year the fishermen still struck out.
