Road work on Landon Road in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- We have some updates on roadwork projects across Gulfport which have temporarily shut down some major intersections across the city.

Beginning earlier on Wednesday, a section of Landon Road in between Highway 49 and Old Highway 49 is shut down as crews work on a road widening project.

Work is also being done to replace the railroad crossing in that area as well.

Highway 49, Dedeaux Road, and Old Highway 49 will serve as detour routes.

That section of Landon is expected to reopen Thursday at 7 p.m.

Further west, work continues at the intersection of Canal and Landon, which has been closed since Monday as crews work on a state widening project to improve local infrastructure.

That intersection is expected to reopen Friday, May 2.

In the meantime, drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes and allow for extra travel time.
