Road closure issued for East Railroad Street in Gulfport

(Gulfport, MS) – Southern Electric Company has issued a Road Closure for a section of East Railroad Street between Hewes Avenue and Kelly Avenue while transmission pole installation resumes.

The closure will be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and Thursday, October 22, 2026, weather permitting.

Kelly Avenue, 28th Street, 8th Avenue, Pass Road and Hewes Avenue will serve as the designated detour route to help minimize disruption to citizens and businesses in the area.
While the roadway will be closed to through traffic, all residents within the affected area will continue to have access to their home.

The City of Gulfport urges all residents to proceed with caution and follow all traffic markers, detours, and flagger instructions in the area.
