Ridin’ for Gunner Batia

A local business is bringing the community together to support a Vancleave family who recently lost a loved one. Brandon’s ATV service is partnering with the park in Perkinston for a benefit event in honor of Gunner Batia. The 20-year-old who loved mud riding recently drowned while fishing on Biloxi beach. The owner of Brandon’s ATV service, Brandon Necaise, tells News 25, although he never met Batia he considers him family.

“He’s young. He’s 20 years old. He’s got a little boy. Most people don’t think about the future. What could happen, and I’m sure he didn’t have life insurance and the family is going to need help for burial and stuff like that. So anything in the community, whether you’re in Pass Christian or Vancleave, I’m going to try to help,” said Necaise.

The event is Saturday at the park on V Bar Road in Perkinston. Admission is $10 per person. There will also be a raffle, jambalaya, water slides, and games for kids. Those interested in attending are encouraged to bring their own ATVs.
