Rickey Peden Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament raises money for local kids
Make-A-Wish hosted its 15th annual Make-A-Wish golf tournament at Fallen Oak Golf Club in honor of Rickey Peden.
Peden was the first Make-A-Wish board member on the Gulf Coast. The tournament had a full field of 28 teams and most teams paid a corporate sponsorship of $1,500 to participate.
Along with fees to play, competitions were held at different holes to raise more money for local Make-A-Wish children.
Once the teams reached the 18th hole, two Make-A-Wish recipients helped them seal the deal by putting. South Mississippi Director for Make-A-Wish Shellie Moses said, “The money raised today will be used to grant wishes to children that are local here on the Gulf Coast. We have over 30 in six coastal counties right now, and that continues to grow on a daily basis, so fundraisers like our golf tournament and other events that people sponsor make a huge difference to the children in our communities.”
This is the first time Make-A-Wish held the tournament at Fallen Oak.
