Richardson murder trial begins today

A new murder trial begins today for one Coast man who was released on bond over two years ago.
In 2011, then 71-year-old Harvill Richardson was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison. In 2014, the Mississippi Supreme Court ordered a new trial and ruled the trial judge had made a mistake by not allowing Richardson’s attorney to argue self-defense.
Richardson is accused of shooting and killing his then roommate 55-year-old Rudy Quilon in 2009.
Opening statements and witness testimony are scheduled for today. News 25 has a reporter in the courtroom and will bring you the latest tonight.
