Ribbon cutting for new hands-on lab at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, in partnership with Mississippi Power Foundation, cut the ribbon on a new lab to help kids learn while playing.

Louie’s Lab will provide a hands-on interactive learning experience for all. The new lab will continue with Mississippi Power’s mission of inspiring children, families, and communities through the arts, interactive educational experiences, and exploration.

Children will get a chance to learn about power, energy, and electricity all while having fun. Mississippi Power Foundation Executive Director Steven Dick said, “This exhibit teaches students and visitors about energy, energy safety, and also teaches them about the emerging technology related to renewable energy.”

Lynn Meadows Executive Director Cindy DeFrances said, “This is a project that has been in the works now for probably a good two years. I mean, from the beginning of just planning all the way down to the implementation, but when we were working with Mississippi Power, we wanted to make sure they had what they wanted as far as their mission of teaching about renewable energy, teaching about power safety.”

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
