Ribbon Cutting for Dantzler Street Bridge
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors celebrated the reopening of the Dantzler Street Bridge this morning.
After a year of construction, the revamped bridge is three feet higher and contractors added a bulkhead so the span could increase from 19 to 31 feet.
Board President and District 2 Supervisor Melton Harris highlights the new accessibility for boats traveling under the bridge from the Pascagoula River Audubon Center. Harris tells News 25 the bridge brings tourism in Jackson County to new heights.
The $1.25 million project was primarily funded by the county with the help of $200,000 in grants from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
