Rezoning Negotiations Continue for Margaritaville Resort

Negotiations between the state and the City of Biloxi continue over the waterfront property surrounding Margaritaville Resort.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann tells News 25 he has two main goals while negotiating. The first is to build a public attraction that residents and tourists can both enjoy. The second is to receive fair value for the land.
In recent negotiations, the state proposed extending out from the current land so properties in the proposed area could have the opportunity to build and expand over the water. “Where we have some tension is the fact that we don’t want to give away five and a half acres of prime development property at too low of a price. I’m just not gonna do it. You got the wrong guy. I have fought for the Gulf Coast to get the maximum dollars. It’s produced over $35 million since I started and I intend to continue to do that,” said Hosemann.
This afternoon, Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich asked the Biloxi Planning Commission to once again postpone its vote on whether to rezone until their next meeting on November 17th.
