Rescue team to search for missing 75-year-old Gulfport woman
A retired Coast Guard veteran and his team will search an area in the Lyman Community for a woman who has been missing now for seven days.
Starting early Saturday morning, George Ruiz and the Geaux-Rescue Team will comb a four-square mile section of the community in search of Dorothy Jean Burks.
The latest sighting of Miss Burks was through a door security camera on Keebler Drive in Lyman.
Ruiz is advising anyone living near the Lyman area to check their door footage on March 23rd between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. for signs of Miss Burks. “We do our searches very methodically, and with a purpose. We think we’ve seen her over here so we send a bunch of people to that area. We have a general idea of where we believe she may be at, and it’s a pretty big area. We’re talking 3.5 to 4 square miles, and that’s a lot of ground to cover in a couple of days. We’re going to give it our best and reduce the possibility that she’s in certain areas.”
Anyone with information on Miss Burks should call the Gulfport Police Department.
