Renovations for Recreational Facilities in Pascagoula

A much needed facelift is coming to recreational athletic facilities in Pascagoula and tonight the city reached out to residents for their help.
The Parks and Recreation Department held a public meeting to see what needs to be done to the baseball, softball, and soccer fields. The city plans on using a 10 million dollar bond to pay for the renovations. Plans include making every field regulation size, renovating concession stands and restrooms, as well as adding lights to the soccer fields.
Darcie Crew, Pascagoula Parks and Recreation director, said, “What we’re looking for tonight is to come up with a plan for our existing facilities on how to make the renovations to accommodate the needs of our youth and our community and to be able to move forward with our athletic improvements.”
After the Parks and Rec Department comes up with a detailed plan, they will post it for the general public to view.
In the coming weeks, the City Council is expected to propose putting a 2 percent prepared food tax to a vote in order to fund the bond issue.
