Renaissance the Runway Fashion Show at the IP Casino Resort
The fashion event of the season was held tonight at the IP Casino.
For the fifth year, the Bacot McCarty Foundation, with the help of IP and South Mississippi Living Magazine, presented its annual Renaissance the Runway fashion show to close out the Jolly season and raise money for numerous nonprofit organizations across South Mississippi.
For the main event, over 60 community leaders strutted down the runway, modeling outfits from local shops and boutiques.
The fashion show also featured a silent auction in which 100 percent of the proceeds go to the 10 charities that acquired the items and a raffle that helps provide funds for scholarships for local students.
In total, the event raises $150,000 that goes directly back into the South Mississippi community and its numerous nonprofits.
Bacot McCarty Board member and owner and publisher of South Mississippi Living Magazine Michael Sunderman was a presenting sponsor and has been with the fashion show since its beginning. “After the first show Todd Trenchard and I were in the back talking and we looked at each other ‘this could be something’ and we said let’s talk about it. And a couple of weeks later we got together and it’s been growing ever since. I don’t see it stopping. I see this thing going bigger and bigger. Five years ago, it was maybe $10,000 raised. So, it’s a big, big change.”
The money raised this evening is on top of the hundreds of thousands of dollars raised this spring at the Jolly Golf Tournament.
